Canadian Cricket Association

Page history last edited by Patrick Adams 14 years, 7 months ago

The Canadian Cricket Association was formed in 1892 and it became responsible for selecting the national team to face America in the International Series. However, it had little influence over the lower levels of the game.

According to David Cooper, in his thesis Canadians Declare it isn't Cricket, the Dominion Cricket Advisory Board was created in 1934 in response to a 1932 dictat from the MCC, which stated that they would only communicate with a body that represented all of Canada. In 1940 the DCAB was replaed by the CCA.

According to Colin Whiting(p.7) the CCA was reformed in 1949 to perform its original task of organising and selecting teams to represent Canada. Whiting credits the renaissance of the CCA to WEN Bell of Toronto who had the necesssary experience having played against the touring Australians of 1932, the touring MCC in 1937 and had represented Canada in their 1936 tour of Britain.

In 2008 the Canadian Cricket Assocation was renamed as Cricket Canada.
