Edmonton Cricket Club was founded in 1882 and Strathcona CC was set up a few years later. The Edmonton League was set up and in 1912 a cup was donated by the local newspapers. This trophy is still awarded to the League winners today. Calgary's St John's Zingari Cricket Club was formed in 1908.
Lloydminster
Was formed in 1903 by British immigrants, who intended to establish a utopian society. The cricket club was established in 1904 and the arrival of the railroad in 1905 made it easier for tours to take place. In 1911 Lloydminster managed to defeat Edmonton twice. Cricket declined rapidly after the First World War and by the 1920s cricket had died out in the settlement.
